Another cloudy, rainy, cool day here along the river. The same weather we had most of last week, and the same weather that's predicted for most of the week upcoming. Overall, spring was cooler, wetter, and cloudier than normal—and if beginnings are any indication, it looks like summer intends to follow suite.
I'm not completely over my recent illness. Still coughing occasionally, and disconcertingly weak—a half-day of shopping or rambling about pretty much does me in. But I'm improving, and feel the best I have since before I got sick.
Between a slow recovery and uncooperative weather, I've managed very few photos lately. Plus life has been—to put it mildly—pretty boring. All of which has lead to a singular lack of personal motivation…the only excuse I have for not blogging
However, I must have passed some inner milestone, because I'm now feeling guilty about continued self-pity and whining, while emulating the behavior of a potted plant. I guess it's time for me to reemerge from my den, rejoin the living, go on the occasional brief photo foray, and post my thoughts and deeds to this blog.
I think I'm back.

So glad you are recovering. Some bugs just don't want to go away.
Me too. Yesterday's overcast was nearly too much to bear. My mood follows the weather. I was best left alone, its safer for everyone that way. Last week I was informed that I may be eligible for an assistive living apartment and possibly a power chair. My outlook changed to a great extent. Still having to deal with bumbling mistakes of the not slowing down and rushing through tasks variety on the part of the nursing home staff. The night shift managed to bounce a small plastic juice glass, off the tray table, that I had earlier used to spit my used toothpaste after brushing my teeth. In the act of being knocked off the table the contents flew through the air to land on my eye. A freak accident, to be sure. if I looked at the odds and the physics of such an event occurring I might be amazed. As it was i was more willing to be upset. Somehow the mood of the day fit better that way.

HI GRIZZ - good to "see" you and I love the refeence to feeling like a potted plant. Good one!!Great picture despite 'the conditions' I am managing to deal with all that I wrote to you about.
Love Gail
peace.....
Enjoy your photography and writing...hope you are back, I've missed you.
Penny…
This one has certainly been persistent…though I make daily progress. I will be glad when it's finally gone from my life.
John…
I don't know how to explain it, but when writing, I've always worked better during story weather. The uglier the day, the higher my creative energy level. Maybe a few drops of the old druid blood still coursing around in my veins or something. Not the best weather for photography, of course—and can play havoc with a fellow's fishing plans, too. But this year we've seen a lot of rain hereabouts, and if it keeps up, I may have to start building a big boat and gathering animals two-by-two.
My mood doesn't follow the weather—it follows, well, it's own mysterious whim. I'm generally pretty upbeat, intent on having a good time regardless of circumstances. Never let life get in the way of fun and laughter. Except…my balloon can come crashing down right out of the blue, for no discernible reason. Perky and happy one minute, depressed and woebegone the next. And when I'm down, I'm way, bottomed-out down down. Some in that respect, I'm really moody.
That assistive living apartment and possible power chair sounds like a great deal if it works out. I'm sure you'd rather be in a place more your own with more control over your life. I know I would. I sure hope it happens.
Hey, you can't make up freak accidents like the one you related—no one would believe you. But when tell about them, they somehow ring perfectly true. Amazing, crazy, impossible…but true.
Good to hear from you. Take care, and think positive about those possible life changes.
Gail…
Wasn't kidding about the "potted plant" comparison—and we're not talking bouncing begonia, but one with wilted leaves, a droopy stem, and looking a little parched and yellow.
Hey, I'll get you a letter off tomorrow. Count on it.
Kathie…
Thank you. I hope I'm back, too. I'm sick of being sick and ready to do things, get out and about, work on the cottage, ramble around taking photos…and just enjoy feeling good. I've had enough of this!
Beautiful image, Grizz. We had almost no rain during the month of May this year, but June is more than making up for it. We seem to have rain every other day here in the northern Piedmont, and it's overcast on the days when it's not raining.

(Sorry to be slow…had a doctor's appointment this morning, errands after, then meds to pick up, more errands, and finally got back in—worn to a frazzle.)
Hey, your weather sounds much like ours. Rainy days, cloudy days, cool days, irregularly interrupted by a brief sun appearance which gets everyone excited until they check out the next day's weather forecast. The river looks like you could plow it and grow tomatoes. It's bright, almost sunny here right now, but severe thunderstorms and heavy rains are predicted for late-afternoon, early-evening. If I felt good enough to go fishing, I'd be really hacked.
Self-pity and whining have their place, Grizz, but I'm glad you're contemplating leaving your den and getting out for some fresh air and, hopefully, some sunshine. It will do you a world of good... when you're up to it. Please take care.

Yup, I agree. And just so you know, I've been doing more than contemplating, trying to get out and about as much as I can. The problem is, that doesn't turn out to be very much for very long. I drove up to a little prairie patch yesterday just to see how things were going after all the rain we've had lately…and the sum total of my out-of-the-truck adventuring was approximately 50 yards and 25 minutes. Pathetic! But it is what it is, I guess, and I'll keep pushing.
BTW, have you lodged yourself near (or in) my favorite little UP village? The one where I told you I have some property on the bay, and where, if memory serves, you did some plover guarding? (Not trying to blow your hideout, just curious. Answer by email if you prefer.)
