Scribe--
I made this notation on Facebook:
I remember years ago, the (former) comedian Dick Gregory reciting the Declaration of Independence--he got to the part that says--"That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it... it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such gove...rnment"--people thought he was espousing treason.

I am struck with how few people KNOW the content of the Declaration of Independence. I wish we valued more our wondrous governmental heritage.

KGMom…

One of these days that lack of knowledge may come back to haunt us…if it hasn't already. Alas, I think we've long ago lost the spirit and heart that founded our nation—and I don't believe it will ever be rekindled.

Happy 4th!.

And a happy fourth of July to you too Jim.

Like Chic Geek I really do miss your daily visits to the river but I like to think that you and your Lady Love are happily enjoying life together and that maybe your blog has taken second place.

Weaver…

Actually, Myladylove and I worked around the cottage most of the holiday—although late yesterday a fellow photographer and I escaped to the prairie up to road for a couple of hours while my princess bride sacked out on the couch.

My priorities have always been those I love AND the river, but my intermittent posting as of late has been due mostly to extenuating factors…along with a case of laziness—all of which have more-or-less worked themselves out.

Bernie…

It was, Bernie…though we spent most of Sunday and Monday working around and in the cottage. Which isn't a complaint. Never saw a single fireworks, though. It was hot and muggy here—too hot and too muggy for comfort. We did go out for a late lunch at a nearby Olive Garden, Monday, and later on, Rich (my son-in-law's father and a budding photographer) and I went to the prairie up the road for a photo session. A pretty low-key celebration, I guess, but it worked for us.

Hope you're doing okay.
