IMPOSSIBLE BLUE

Today is the third day of autumn. What a sublime autumn sky we have here along the riverbank this afternoon! Crisp and gleaming, in a deep, impossible blue—with not a puff of cloud to mar it anywhere from horizon to horizon.

Nothing is impossible under such a sky. Not peace or health or endless happy tomorrows. Love and kindness can rule; heaven can be glimpsed up there—or down here, beneath its incredible blue canopy. Faith and hope and all the goods of human charity reside in such impossible blue skies, and stir us to thrive by their light.

Such a sky—such a day!—is a gift, a benefaction of the season. And anyone lucky enough to find himself allotted such a moment of time and place must count themselves blessed, indeed.

HI GRIZZ - Oh my, yes! As we sat on our deck earlier the blue you captured was here as well - we looked up and felt such hope and glory and promise and faith - the beauty of the color took our breaths away - I think I saw my Mom just beyond the blue, yes, I am sure I did. She looked beautiful.
Love Gail

Gail…

A glorious day here—start to finish—which I thoroughly enjoyed. Tomorrow and Wednesday, however, call for rain…so we'll have no additional such delightful days for awhile. Glad you got to share it, too.

Your post and that blue sky together make my day much happier as I sit here writing this after five inches of rain in thirty six hours. We are marooned in flood water and it is still raining.

There is nothing prettier or more calming than the blue of the fall sky!! We are witnessing that very blue today!!

Wow! That's a lot of rain in so short a period. Sounds like it may be time for the farmer to be gathering up the animals two-by-two!

Hope you have some blue skies soon.

Muffy's Marks…

Autumn does, indeed, put up some of the most spectacular skies of the entire year. Sunsets and sunrises, too. Unfortunately, here today, the sky looks like a pale gray blanket—and rain is on the way later.

Enjoy your blue blessing.

Funny you should ask about the door and recent cooking. I was just in the midst of answering both questions in today's post. Which I ought to have up shortly, as soon as I can zap off a column then come back and finish. So hold those thoughts and give me a half hour or so…
