Hey, we've been out all day working on our firewood, sawing, splitting, stacking. Just made it to the desk. Hence the slow reply.
Anyway, thank you. Wasn't going to do the usual Riverdaze Advent calendar/countdown this time around. I kind of figured everyone was tired of the idea. Then, late last night, I was thumbing through an old book of Christmas/Advent poetry I'd picked up a week or two ago at a thrift shop, and got a wild hair to do it anyway, regardless of whether anyone besides me cared. So I dashed in here to the desk, found an image, chose a bit of verse from the book, and quick did this first entry.
So I'm glad you liked it, hope you like the entries ahead, and if it ends up appealing to just me and you…well, so be it!
HI GRIZZ - I love the advent writings and warmth of the season. We had the calendars on our refrigerator as kids and so too I did it for my kinds. The ones with the little doors that we opened every day and read messages of hope and faith and love. Wonderful. I love your advent writings, poetry, pictures and just plain, old fashioned, never goes out of style glory of the season. You are old school and I love and admire that about you my friend, beyond measure. Love to you Gil peace...

I never knew about Advent calendars in my growing-up—but I later on, when I did learn about them and saw one, I loved the idea straightaway. When I can find a nice one at a shop hereabouts, I buy and hang it. I wanted to do the same sort of thing via my blog. I'me glad you appreciate both sorts.
You're quite correct, I am old school to the core. Oh, I keep up with the times where and when it's useful, but my life and values are pretty much quaint antiques—and I'm perfectly fine being stubbornly old school.
