APRIL SNOW

What a difference a week makes!

Last Sunday I got up to bright blue skies and almost balmy temperatures. Indeed, the midday high exceeded 70˚F. As perfect a spring day, and as perfect an Easter morning, as anyone could wish.

This Sunday morning I arose to find the ground white with snow. Snow! Geeze! And cold—26˚F last time I checked. Brrrr! I immediately built a fire in the woodstove.

Of course my best friend Frank (God, how I miss him!) used to say that spring hereabouts never really gets settled in until you'd seen snow on the forsythia blooms. Well my forsythia is a yellow riot, scads of bright gold flowers on every arching branch—and the ground below them is fairly covered with snow, somewhere between a dusting and a skiff.

As usual, my dear old pal was right.

it's 26 here, too, with a fierce wind that kept me and the dogs awake much of the nightj. 50 mph gusts!. No snow yet but it is predicted for tonight. Wait! I see snow plastered into the crevasses of the oak tree bark. So I did have snow, but it's not on the ground--probably all blew away.

Hi Grizz - happy Sunday. I love your memories of your dear friend Frank. I feel your heart when yo speak of him.
We are covered in snow here as well. Several inches and more to come tonight. Then it will warm up considerably mid-week. I just need to get to my new PCP in the morning. Huge change for me after being with my doc for 25 years back in Connecticut. I hope I like her, ya know?
Meanwhile, we are settled in for today - have a great day
Love Gail
peace.....

The worst of our winds—45-50mph gusts—came before dark last night. Lots of power and cable outages around, though not here this time, which was amazing. My daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, and labradoodle pup lost their power in late afternoon. By 11pm, still without power and their house getting colder, they packed everyone up and headed to her group practice's offices, a couple of miles away, where they spent the rest of the night—the daughter and granddaughter on the couch in her office, the son-in-law and dog on the couch in an associate's office. Not much sleep was had, apparently. But power got restored today.

Wouldn't be spring in Ohio without a cold, snowy interlude, though. And today, after it noon, it warmed some, into the low-50˚s.

Hey, hope you've fully recovered from your earlier illness. Last spring, when I got sick, it hung on and lingered into summer. Not the way to do things. Best, always…

Our snow melted by mid-morning. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, I think. The rest of the week is the mid-50˚s, but nothing as warm as last week. Spring is always two steps forward, one step back.

Hope you had a lovely day today. And good luck with the new doc tomorrow. I know that's worrisome, but it will work out. Trust me. Have faith!
