CHILLED AND TRUCKLESS

Another cold spring day. The current temperature is a chilly 27˚F. Plus a dusting of snow arrived during the night.

Not our usual April weather! The violets, daffodils and tulips are looking pretty wilted. Luckily most of the latter have not yet bloomed.

Still, today is more congenial than recent offerings. There's no appreciable wind. Skies are blue and clear—not a cloud in sight. And best of all, a beaming-bright sun affords a marked psychological improvement over yesterday, which was cold, windy, damp, and darkly overcast.

On the down side, my pickup is in the repair shop. I have no doubt it's affliction will turn out to be expensive…the cost of which, if my history regarding such matters holds true, will doubtless consume every penny of the recent tax refund check. I just wish I knew how these nefarious cosmic forces always seem to know the exact balance in my bank account?

In the meantime I'm temporarily grounded. No wheels, no mobility, no running up the road to ramble for an hour or two along a nearby trail—checking on birds and wildflowers and the burgeoning greenery, while keeping a much-needed vernal tryst with a favorite woodland.

Huh. I suppose I'll just have to bide my time and do some actual work.

Hi Grizz - sometimes, being grounded for a time out is just what we need. Gives us time to reflect close to home and enjoy and ponder "our personal world" I have taken on this surrender as often I am 'grounded' for a variety of reasons and rather than resist I look for ways to appreciate and enjoy and explore, perhaps even a closet or dresser drawer left unattended and yields memories of times long ago, and forgotten. So look around and 'see' what's hidden and awaiting your joy when 'it' is discovered.

Love to you always'

p.s. all went well with the new doc :-)

Gail…

Yup, I know what you're saying and agree. But with the eye surgeries and all, I've been over-grounded since the first of the year. I'm chompin' at the bit to get out and ramble, fish, wildflower, make photos, etc. I'm BORED! COOPED UP! STIR CRAZY! And apparently soon destined to become $750 plus tax poorer!

I'm happy to hear your doc visit turned out well. That's way more important than my childish whining about cabin fever.

Hi again - I hear ya - you certainly have been 'cooped up' for a long time. And that's a big chunk of money for your truck -necessary evils huh? Soon you will be rambling about doing what you do so well i your all fixed truck :-)
Love Gail

Well, I'm apparently getting senile…I posted your comment early this morning, but forgot to answer. Shhheeesh!

Anyway, the truck bill ended up at $675, so not as bad as expected. And though I meant to go a'ramblin' today and celebrate my reacquired mobility, I had to do another article which ended up taking until just a few minutes ago. And it's now thundering with rain soon to follow. Probably no frivolous gadabouting until tomorrow.
